What I’m doing right now

Because there’s always something to do.

Exploring

  1. After publishing summaries of other peoples’ research for over eight years, I finally think it’s time to start a PhD. I’m currently looking for a topic and a supervisor.
  2. I’ve been working two jobs for the past two years and am open to replacing one of them within the next twelve months. If you work in aviation, public transport, or academia and need a researcher, an R&D software engineer, or a DevOps engineer, feel free to get in touch with me!
  3. My desktop monitor has been acting up for months. I’m seriously considering a height-adjustable Apple Studio Display, even though it is objectively not worth Apple’s exorbitant price.
  4. I am exploring alternatives to the Apple Vision Pro, which is not available for purchase in the Netherlands and is even more outrageously expensive than the Studio Display. The Meta Quest 3 seems to be the best alternative on the market right now, but I’d rather not buy a Meta product.

Building

  1. I’m building an Information Reliability Inspection System (IRIS) for the Horizon Europe-funded AI4Debunk project, along with two human-centred user interfaces that should make it easy for anyone to check content for signs of disinformation.
  2. I just finished building a new version of my website. You’re looking at it right now!

Reading

I’m not reading any books right now.

Playing

  1. I’m playing a pirated copy of Command & Conquer: Generals – Zero Hour because it unironically works better than the version I bought through Steam.
  2. I first played a demo of Dragon Throne: Battle of Red Cliffs around 2001. It was recently on sale for €1.99, so I finally bought the full version. By far the best two euros I’ve spent this year.

Watching

  1. I am slow-binging through Wortelboer en Van Rossem, a human-interest series in which two Dutch television personalities discuss generational differences.
