Yes, I took a short break

It’s been three weeks since the start of the new academic year at our university of applied sciences. Almost overnight, its hallways, lecture theatres, libraries, and cafeteria went from completely deserted to lively and vibrant – one might even say overcrowded.

Something similar happened to my Outlook calendar. For more than a month it had been mostly empty. No scheduled meetings, no social events, no blog posts that I felt needed writing. I temporarily went down from 48-hour to 36-hour workweeks. Technically not a real vacation, but it sure felt like one to me.

What have I done with all that extra free time? Not as much as I had hoped or planned. My house is still a mess, I still haven’t rebuilt my website in the framework du jour, I forgot to keep in touch with my friends again and I also haven’t met any new people. However, not all was lost, as there were a few things I did manage: I renewed my Museum Pass, visited Florence, Pisa and London, vibe-coded myself a custom Word add-in and even found time to play some new video games.

It’s been fun, but now it’s time to get back to the grind and make some serious (and some very unserious) contributions to the world again!
